Sorry the letter is late today! For p-day today, we had zoned out so the Akron, Kirtland, and Toledo zones all got together out in Hiram and we took a tour of the John Johnson Home. It’s so beautiful! They had turquoise doors and framing in their house! Seriously…I’m considering painting my own house that color when I get one. It made me so happy! Pics will be attached for your viewing pleasure.

Then we played “Name the principle in PMG by the scriptures that each team is given”, Ohio/Mission Jeopardy, and Mafia—Gadianton robbers, Nephites and Prophets style. I was a prophet and I won. I got Elder Thornton, the Gadianton robber, killed. Check that out! It was really fun but elders get really competitive sometimes and they just need to chill. After that we had a zone against zone relay race. We may or may not have lost but it was way fun. Then we just hung out/ played soccer/volleyball/football for a while and then we came back and went grocery shopping. Wooooooo.
Not the cutest picture ever taken but you can see our PARK WEBB under eye sticker things that make us look tough :)
The Akron zone gave President Sorensen a doo rag. Okay, it's legit. My mission president is a gangster.
The Euclid district with our SAWEET bandana things. The ones around our heads were made by Elder Stephenson for the whole Kirtland zone...we were unaware of that!
For starters, the Special K diet is going so good! I did adjust it slightly…I just can’t do skim milk so I’m using 1% and they say one serving size but that’s only ¾ of a cup and that is so meager! So…I rounded it up to 1 cup…which is still substantially less than I would usually eat. But, I didn’t eat dessert for a whole week! I know, right?! That’s pretty much amazing! Sister Park & I decided that we need a mid-diet treat though so we’re going to get custard after FHE tonight. Then, I will resume my diet for the next week. I feel really good when I eat only fruits and veggies during the day! Although, my body has starting craving meat cuz I haven’t had it in so long. That’s okay though. I’ve got chicken to make for dinner this week.

Moving on…this week was really good. Honestly Tuesday & Wednesday I don’t remember so nothing significant happened. Thursday was AWESOME though! To start off the day, Sister Park & I had this amazing companionship study. We’ve been talking a lot about sanctification, and yielding our hearts to the Lord. We always have to continue learning, and the Lord has to continue to put challenges in our way so that we can grow. It’s like sometimes the spirit takes a step up on the spiritual staircase and so we feel like we’re without it…but we haven’t done anything wrong, we just have to step up ourselves and our behavior so that we can once again be on the same stair as the spirit is. Does that make sense? I hope so.
I love the scripture in Helaman 3:35. We have to have that change of character, and we have to be continually changing so that we are integrating the attributes of Christ into ourselves, into our own character. Alright so after study we had weekly planning, we decided not to focus on Kia next week because she can’t be baptized until her mom’s out of that treatment center at the end of October. So…after planning, we were able to stop by Kimberly Carr, a lady that Sisters Park & Barker used to teach. We were able to talk to her for a few minutes and share a scripture with her. We found out that she’s still reading the BoM 2-3 times a week so that was bomb, in fact. We’re going to check up on her in a couple weeks and see if we can come back and teach her more/ see if she’s ready to progress.
After Kimberly’s we went to Kia’s. It was a really good visit, partly because Heavenly Father gave me a glimpse into His will. He made it very clear that Sister Park & I need to continue to focus on Kia, now more so than ever. She had really, really been struggling. She just has a hard life! She doesn’t live in a good neighborhood, her mom is in rehab for a drug addiction, her dad ran away a few years ago with some other woman and her family, and she just feels alone. She opened up and told us that she felt angry and that the fact that her dad was out of the picture never bothered her until her mom was mostly out of the picture too. (She can only talk to her once a week….sounds like a missionary!) Anyway, it was heartbreaking to listen to her tell us about the pain she’s been going through and watch the tears run down her face. No 13 year-old should ever have to feel like that. But we were able to bear testimony about the atonement and its healing power. It was so good.
Also, we got Brother Bjarnason and Brother Yates to come over and give her a Priesthood blessing later that night. The Priesthood is so amazing!!!!!! I love it I love it I love it! Anyway, the blessing was perfect and exactly what Kia needed. It stressed how much Heavenly Father loved her and talked about how she would be a missionary and an instrument in the Lord’s hands and how making commitments and covenants with the Lord would bring more blessings than she could even imagine. I know that she’s going to be the gate for her whole family to accept the gospel! I can’t wait. She’s an amazing girl. So…yeah, can I just say that I LOVE AKYIA LA’SHAY HENDERSON-RANDALL? Well, it’s true. I do. That girl has got my heart.
I had a little miracle on Friday too! I woke up knowing it was an all-sites day and I decided that I was going to be SO diligent! It’s really easy to get caught up in talking to other sisters at sites that you waste the Lord’s time for calling people! That’s a struggle I’ve had. But, I told you last week one of my goals was 2 referrals a day when I was at sites. So, I called a lot of cards. I got referral #1 early in the morning and kept calling and calling and calling all day. I got a lot of not interested as well and one lady even hung up on me when I said that her friend came through some historic sites that were significant to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. JERK! But anyway, I really was diligent about calling all day. When I was eating dinner at like 7, Sister Park came into the kitchen and was like “Did anyone call a Della Brown? She said she just missed a call from this number.” Pick me. So I took the phone call and darling Della accepted the missionaries to drop off FFIC! I know that Heavenly Father helped me to reach my goal because I had been diligent in trying to achieve it all day. It was neat!
Um…Saturday was good. We saw a few people but my most favoritest person that we saw was Joyce Ely, the quilt shop lady! This time I got to meet her cute down-syndrome daughter Sarah. She’s 21 and really cute. Our visit just confirmed that they basically are Mormon and they just need to get baptized! So we visited them and Joyce wanted to take a picture of us with Sarah to put on Sarah’s blog. So…go check out her blog and see me & Sis. Park! It’s sarahely8989.blogspot.com. I’ll attach a pic too. They were supposed to come to church on Sunday but they didn’t show. Boooo! But we keep sending the members into the quilt shop and we’ll stop by. I really feel like they’re supposed to be there next week. The lesson in gospel principles is all about how families can be forever and that is so applicable to them so we shall see.
Ohhhhhhhh yeah! Also, funny story from last week that I forgot to write about. So a while ago we were teaching Kia and we started singing Sound of Music for some reason and she was like “whaaaaa?” and she didn’t know what Sound of Music was! What a shame. Anyway, so last Sunday, we’re visiting Sister Pennington and she’s like telling us that someone got jumped on their street the night before and the cops came and all this stuff. And sheltered, innocent, protected, little Sister Park and I are like “Um..define jumped.” And Sister Pennington’s like, “They beat him up. It means the same thing in every language!” And I was like, “oh..so there wasn’t a gun or anything.” And Sister Pennington’s like “No, that would be called murder.” Way to make me feel retarded Sister Pennington! Thanks. Haha. And then she’s like “They’re bringing stuff from the hood. I don’t need my kids and my nieces around that.” In my head I was like…wait, I thought this was the hood…..! Ha it was just funny to see the different backgrounds we come from. I don’t know the meaning of “jumped” and Kia doesn’t know what the Sound of Music is. Yep. Funny funny.
Anyway, that is life here in the Ohio Cleveland. It is hard. Harder than I thought. I’m tired all the time…but in a good way. Yay for 15 1/2 more months of it! The Church is so true. Don’t ever forget it.
Love,
Sister Webb
