CHRIS PIETRZYK
She is so great! Her baptism is on Friday at 7:30. HOORAY! This past week, we taught her about tithing & fast offerings and yesterday before church she called and she’s like “Sister Webb, so can I start paying tithes next week?” Hahaha she wants to do it! She’s so childlike in that way…she’s perfectly obedient. I love her so much! She came in to Kirtland to see the Joseph Smith movie last night and she was totally crying at the end. It was sweet.
Did I mention that I’M SO EXCITED FOR HER BAPTISM?!?! We are getting the whole ward involved. It’s going to be SO great! Did I also mention that the last baptism in the Mayfield ward was in late March 2009? YEAH. It’s about time! “Yay for God! Hooray! Hurrah!” <--on a random side note, that quote is from this HILARIOUS vimeo video about Jonah and the Ninevites. It’s like a 4 year old girl telling Jonah’s story. Elder Butterfield & President Sorensen showed it to us on separate occasions and it’s hilarious. Please look it up and watch it if you haven’t already seen it!
SISTER McCORNELL
She is a super inactive lady in the ward who is hilarious and who wants us to come back and teach her the lessons. We saw her on Tuesday and are setting up a time to see her this week as well.
ALEX PASSAWE
I told you that last week we were fasting for Alex. Well, we went and saw him and Marcia on Tuesday. It was horrific. Thankfully, I felt like we should bring Brother Stacey with us. He is very intellectual, like Alex, and I just felt more comfortable with him there. Alex, baptized 2 months ago, has gone apostate. I’m not even exaggerating. He wanted to have an “intellectual debate” with us and wanted us to “convince him” that God has a body and to show him where it says that in the scriptures.
He basically said he was baptized because he wanted to see our religion from an insider’s point of view. And he also wanted to marry Marcia but knew she wouldn’t do that unless he was a member…so they got married 5 days after his baptism. Yeah. He didn’t actually say that part though. The Spirit was not there at all. It was so heartbreaking. Then, after I thought my heart couldn’t break any more, Bishop Harmon told us that Marcia was married before and this same exact thing happened. OH MY GOSH. How much does that poor woman have to take? The whole situation is just heart wrenching.

Near the end of the week, I was really worried about her because she flamed us on Thursday and it had been nearly a week since we’d seen her. But she was there when we stopped by on Friday and she is doing well! She took her Bible, Book of Mormon and Gospel Principles book with her to the doctors office the day before. I was jumping for joy inside at that point! She’s getting to the point where she’s really ready to set goals for herself and to start progressing. YAYYYYYYYYY!
And the best part of the week was when she & Reggie came to church yesterday!!!!!!!!!!! And they both participated and commented in every meeting and LOVED it! And in Relief Society, Man’tima told some ladies that she’d see them next week! Church is just SO powerful. I LOVE IT!! We are going to see her & Reggie tonight. I’m excited :)
DARYL NELSON
Dropped us this week. Says our religion brings up too many questions and he hasn’t found answers. (Well yeah, it just so happens that when you don’t make time to meet with us and you don’t pray, you don’t get answers. Just the way it works bud.)
SISTER JANKOWSKI
She’s good. Still as crazy as ever but she loves when we come over.
JOYCE ELY
I swear I could not love anyone more than I love Joyce and want her to have the gospel. We are doing a memorial for her friends in Utah whose down-syndrome daughter passed away on my birthday last year. Thursday is the 6 month anniversary and Joyce thought it would be nice to hold a little service and asked us to come because we are of the same faith as Kristen.
As Sister Mayer & I were driving away after seeing her and gushing about how great she is, I totally received revelation for what we need to do! The Relief Society needs to hold a sewing/quilting activity where they invite her to be the teacher and that way she’ll be in the church building and she’ll be able to feel the Spirit and she’ll want to come back. And then we’ll baptize her! Good plan.
KIA HENDERSON-RANDALL
Kia turned 14 on Saturday! Sadly, she didn’t come to church yesterday even though she told us she would….but we went and saw her after church. She is doing so good! We talked with her about faith & how spiritual gifts always accompany faith. It was a good lesson. Sister Pennington was really involved with it and for some reason she brought up significant dates in her life. For example, 3 years ago she was baptized on Kia’s birthday, she mentioned one in October, and they mentioned that Kia’s original baptismal date (July 23) was the death day of Kia’s grandma (S. Pennington’s mom). So then, I asked, “What’s the next significant day coming up?” And they said February 19 was Kia’s grandma’s birthday.
It just so happens that it is a Saturday. SOOOOO I asked if we could work towards that as a baptismal date for Kia and she said yes. :) She really is going to be baptized that day- I KNOW IT!!! It’s finally time! AHHHH I’m so excited! The only sad part is that is 3 days after transfers….and if I leave, I will be super sad. But it’s more important that Kia has the blessings of the gospel so I won’t be selfish.

Ummm, well, on Saturday night, we made brownies for Kia’s birthday at like 9:50 and when we went to pull out the vegetable oil, I realized that it expired in February of 2010 and it smelled NAST. So…what do you do? Well, we knew our Indian neighbors downstairs were having a party so we went and knocked on the door….Sister Mayer still in her pros clothes and me in my sweats & t-shirt. Awesome. It was really funny.
And then yesterday, we ate dinner at the Nelsons and they told us about the floods in Australia that are going on and we did Tim Tam Slams in honor of that. You bite the ends of this certain cookie and suck hot chocolate through it and the cookie like dissolves and then you have to get it in your mouth. I was a mess and they laughed at me but it was so fun! And then last night we watched the Joseph Smith movie because it was the Butterfield’s open house so we went to Kirtland. It was grand!

You should each read President Uchtdorf’s talk “Of Things That Matter Most” from GC in October. It is wonderful. Simplicity is sophistication.
Love you!!!
Sister Webb
