The title of the email comes from a quote by Emma Smith found in that new Relief Society book, Daughters in My Kingdom! I'm like OBSESSED with that book! Seriusly. I just want to read it and read it and read it. Don't worry, I'm not acting on that desire. Only a small amount. I'm really doing missionary work the majority of the time.
I've actually been feeling well! Heavenly Father has been so good to me!!! It started after p-day last Monday. I just prayed and prayed that I would have the energy and the strength to work. I've still been coughing a bunch and carrying my box of tissues around with me but I can focus and can work!!!!!!!!!!! :) Yay.
It started off with a DTR breakup chat with one of the investigators that Sister Esser & Sister Bills had been teaching who is not progressing at all. She's like 80 years old and is flat out lazy so we can't spend our precious area time there. There was totally a MOUSE in her house though while we were there!!!! She didn't realize it and Sister Decker didn't either but Sister Esser & I both heard it scurry from one side of the area room to the other......and then back again a few minutes later. SICK!!!
We contacted at Chardon Square that day and were able to talk to a couple of really great people. Contacting is something that I love because it still scares me! Ha. Most things I'm relatively used to now, having been here for so long. But contacting still gives me the butterflies! :)
We had a really inspired stop-by at the Nelsons, members of the branch. Brother Nelson has been working like 80 hours a week and Sister Nelson is just having a bit of hard time so....it was great that we were there. Then, our appointment cancelled so Sister Nelson fed us dinner! It was good food and good company. I love their little family.
| Cute Grandma Joyce sent me flowers this week!!! Aren't they beautiful? |
We also met Rachel , who is a part member (PM) family. She is 15 1/2 and used to be Mennonite, up until a couple of years ago. We gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon and are going to try and see her family sometime soon. There is definite potential there!!
So, I forgot that I haven't told you anything about Chat yet. On mormon.org there is a function where you can chat with missionaries. The sisters at Temple Square had been testing it for the past while and had seen HUGE amounts of success. So, the test is finished and chatting is occuring in visitors' centers across the world! So now, in addition to spending time at sites and proselyting in our area, we have "chat" time. They've totally redone the call center so there is this little cubicle that has 4 computers in it that are used for chatting purposes only.
So what happens is when we're online a chat will pop up, and you accept it. The computer knows who your companion is, so you add her to the chat and the two (or in our case 3..) of you talk to/teach the person at the same time. It's INCREDIBLE! The Lord is using every ounce of technology to forward His work! And I get to be a part of it! It's SO cool! I'll have to take a picture of that this week so that you can see what it is like. You get a bunch of people who are "trolling". I've never heard of that word before we started chat but apparently it means being DUMB and wasting people's time. But there are a lot of sincere people who just have questions and want answers. We have an area book for our online area and we update it just like we do for our proselyting area. We get new investigators, and find potentials and all sorts of fun stuff like that. It's pretty much bomb.com.
Sadly, I did NOT get to go to Allie's baptism in Ravenna last week because it didn't happen. I guess lots of her fellowshippers were going to be out of town for a temple trip so they had to move it. We almost met her mom, Connie, last week but then she got sick the morning of our appointment!! AHHH. I want to meet her SO badly! I know she needs the gospel and it will just bless their little family so much!!! Soon. Pray for us to be able to meet her!
We went to the WalMart in Middlefield this week and GUESS WHAT. AMISH PEOPLE OUT THE WAZOO!!! I'm talking like in every aisle. I think I have a fascination with them. I want to know more about their lifestyle and such...but I think most of that knowledge will have to wait until after the mission. I like the Amish alot.
| FALL in all its glory. Ohio is beautiful. Life is beautiful. Love y'all! |
On Saturday, I went on surprise exchanges with Sister Tokunaga because poor Sister Hansen is SO sick. We were at sites for half the morning and then in Fairport Harbor for the afternoon. It's amazing how you can meet people and teach them just one time and just love them! There were a couple people like that that we were able to meet. I got to drive for the first time in like 3 months so that was weird but nice :)
Sister Tokunaga is funny. She is an amazing missionary! She's only been out for 3 weeks and has gone on a bunch of exchanges because of how sick Sister Hansen has been. She's had so much practice taking over the area...she's going to be amazing when it actually happens! She was just baptized 3 years ago and really just loves the gospel, you can tell. I love going on exchanges because everyone does missionary work differently and it's so cool to be able to learn from their style. <3
Yesterday was pretty good! We were at sites after church....and all was well until that evening. Sister Esser's family is having a hard time. If you would keep them in your prayers, that'd be great.
This week I read a quote on the refrigerator of cute little Sister Rhodes (from the branch): "Faith is motivation to action; Hope is a desire with expectations of fulfillment."
I really love the line about hope. That is why we can conquer discouragement! We can trust that Heavenly Father will surely fulfill His promises and our expectations.
I love you all so much! I'm so grateful for Jesus Christ. Faith in Him motivates me to reach out and rescue.
Love,
Sister Webb
P.S. Aunt Nat, I'm so excited- I just figured out your email by looking at the one you had sent to Chase!! Ha. Sorry it's taken me 15 months!!!!
