tender mercies, much?

Okay this week seriously has been one of the best weeks of my mission!!

We have seen soooo many tender mercies from Heavenly Father. Really. Let me preface by saying that we have been working hard. We have been praying in (almost) every prayer to find more people to teach. Last Tuesday, we were able to teach JR, Shirley, Veronica & Tiara. They are a black family that Sister Bills & Sister Voievodina found on exchanges. Veronica couldn't be at our next meeting but we got 3 new investigators because the other 3 did.

Then the next day we received a text from mormon.org and Emilie & Katie  self-referred at Kirtland and wanted a Book of Mormon. We just happened to be driving on Wilson Mills Rd. which is the street that Emilie lives on so we asked if we could come over right then and she said yes! When we got there, Katie was actually already there and Scott, Emilie's husband, was also there. We taught them and set up a return appointment to come back and share more and found 3 more investigators!

Now...the icing on the cake. The miracle of all miracles!! We had fast Sunday yesterday because of the upcoming conference and we were fasting to be able to find more prepared people to share this message with. On Sunday, after our morning meeting, Elder Southwick says to us, "Sisters, there's a 17-year-old girl sitting next to my wife who just really felt like she needed to come to church today." WHAT?! So, turns out her name is Sarah. Her dad is a member but has been really, really, REALLY less-active for a long time. (Like he's only been ordained a deacon...so yeah, long time). Her mom met with missionaries a few years ago and was almost baptized but backed out at the last minute. Sarah has been reading from her dad's old scriptures. She's a senior in HS who wants to major in Russian. She wants to go to BYU(!!!) because they have one of the best Russian programs in the nation. HA!

She has wanted to come to church for a long time but was really nervous of talking to her dad because she didn't want him to feel like she didn't respect his choice to not be involved in church or anything like that. Anyway, she finally brought it up to him that she wanted to go to BYU and to church, and he's fine with that. We went to YW with her and snagged her afterwards so we talk with her a bit more. She said that she's been raised with the same morals that we have and things but she just hasn't really been to church. She LOVED it!! And, SHE WANTS TO BE BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't that amazing?! Then after we taught her on Sunday, we went and taught just JR. He showed us a story in the Book of Mormon that he read and really liked and he accepted our invitation to be baptized when he comes to know that the things that we teach him are true. He's awesome too!!!! I LOVE MY LIFEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I think I've really come to love the book of Alma on my mission. It just resonates with my thoughts. I feel like Ammon did in chapter 26, "Now have I not great reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never was a sister that had so great reason to rejoice as me, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name."

That would mean that this week we found SEVEN new people to teach. We had 1 baptism and 1 confirmation. And we are about to set a couple of baptismal dates! AMAZING! I have such a testimony that prayers are answered. I know that Heavenly Father is SO aware of us! He really is. He knows our needs. He knows the desires of our hearts. HE LOVES US. And He will take care of us and see us through our hard times, and rejoice with us through the good. I love you all so much! Thank you for just being there for me, and supporting me, and loving me! Thank you for letting me be out here in the Ohio, so that I could find my purpose in life and figure out who I really am and what kind of person I want to be for the rest of forever. I love you!!
