Yay for spring!!

It has been a great week!! First of all, it actually decided to be SPRING for like 2 days and it was MARVELOUS!!!!

It was SIXTY FIVE DEGREES!!! :)
We found a lot of new potential so that is really great. The best thing is that we found a couple of FAMILIES!! We are really excited about Kela and her family. She’s 9 months pregnant and she has a 1 year old son and… a HUSBAND!! (Those are rare among the people of Cleveland Heights!) HOORAY FOR FAMILIES!

We also found another family…we were driving to do a stop by a less active member and we passed these people on their porch on this glorious spring day and as we passed, I felt like we needed to go back and talk to them. So we did. They are religious and very kind and open to talking…we’ll be going back sometime this week.

The miracle of the week definitely came in the form of 19 year old Ameer. Let me tell you his story. Once upon a time, Sister Mayer and I were tracting on Berkshire. We knocked on a couple of doors but both of us were distracted by this kid skateboarding in the middle of the street sooo we decided to go talk to him. He is THE ELECT OF GOD. Seriously.

So once we introduced ourselves, we found out some stuff about him like the fact that currently he is attending a culinary school in Atlanta but he had just gotten to Cleveland THAT DAY because he was on spring break. Ha! And then he basically asked us to teach him. For real. So naturally we did. He was raised Muslim but said that something about it “just didn’t click” with him. He said about a year and a half ago, one of his friends from high school was reading a book about spirituality and he was like “Dude, you don’t even read. What is that?” and then Ameer read it himself and since then he has been a different person.

He told us that he believes that we are spiritual beings have a physical experience here. ( Um, yes please.) And he was so receptive to absolutely everything that we taught. Ah. The topper was the end of our “lesson” on his front steps, when he said the closing prayer. In it he was like “And Heavenly Father, I felt like I was going to learn truth while I was here on spring break. Thank you for sending these two young women to teach me something that was really true.” I almost burst into tears of joy at that moment. Seriously! This doesn’t happen very often and it was so cool!!!

We are going tonight to drop him off a Book of Mormon so that he can start reading and then we’re going to teach him on Thursday about the Plan of Salvation. OH MY GOSH. He is honestly so awesome! That was definitely the best lesson I’ve ever taught on my mission. It was sweet. And it was on one of those BEAUTIFUL, SUNSHINY spring days! We had a couple of stop bys planned after that but since it was so nice outside we decided to walk to them instead of driving and it was wonderful. We were contacting people all along the way and met another potential named Louis. Yay for nice weather!
These are our tired faces.

Actually, it was really funny…we were stopping by Brother Ray’s house (someone that the elders contacted a couple of years ago) and he wasn’t home. But for the first time we noticed he has a sticker on his door that looks like an alarm system sticker but it says “This home protected by JESUS CHRIST.” AWESOME!! Hahaha since we were walking, I didn’t have my camera on me but I intend to go back and capture it on film.

Yesterday was really good too! There were a few nonmembers at church, but most exciting of all was that Kiesha (who I may have referred to as LaKiesha before) was there again! AND she came to the fireside in Kirtland last night! She is so going to be baptized soon. I am excited!

So next week, I’ll know what’s going on with transfers. I’m pretty sure I’m leaving but you never know until Sunday evening. We shall see…..oh the anticipation.
Look at the generations....Sister Park, me & Sister Mayer. LOVE!

Alright, so here’s my spiritual thought for the week. It comes from Doctrine and Covenants 10:4.

“Do not run faster or labor more than you have strength and means provided to enable to [be a missionary, be a mom, fulfill your purpose, etc]; but be diligent unto the end.”

I’ve found comfort in the fact that Heavenly Father expects us to be diligent but He knows our limits and He isn’t going to ask us to do more than we are physically/mentally/spiritually/emotionally/able to do. What a loving Father we really have! He’s the best.

And so are all of you! I love you so much!
Love,

Sister Webb
