Fall did not stay long enough, in my humble opinion

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it’s Sister Webb. (That’s how I usually answer the phone when other missionaries call.) What’s up yo?

Pretty much the same old, same old here in O-h-i-o.

I feel like I just had p-day because well, I kind of did. Anyway, last p-day we ended a little bit early so that we could take dinner to the Messegees. They were sick and they do so much for us that we wanted to do something for them.

Okay kind of funny story… we were doing a stop by that night on Cedar Rd. So one side of Cedar is our area and the other side of Cedar is the Shaker elders’ area. However, the East Cleveland elders live on Cedar, outside of their area. So we were going back to the car after stopping by and we are walking on one side of the street and Sister Law’s like, “I think that’s the elders!” and for sure, East Cleve was walking down the other side of Cedar. Funny.

Then, Thursday we were walking from the street we parked on to the street we were going to tract and we found them again! They were in our area this time because the son of a less-active lady is in the singles’ branch, which they cover as well as their other ward. I was cracking up because in 3 ½ transfers, so 15 weeks, I’ve never seen them and then all of the sudden we run into them twice in 2 days. Small world. It’s cool to know that basically the whole world is covered with people doing the same thing that I am.

We tracted a lot on Thursday & we have 3 appointments set for Tuesday with people that we met. Hooray! Hopefully we can make them new investigators after Tuesday.

Friday was so good! I felt like we hadn’t been in Kirtland in FOREVER although it had only been since Monday. Oh dear….I think I’m beginning to have separation anxiety! Ha. I’m going to laugh when I get sent out full pros. Anyway, Kirtland was so good! I had mail waiting and even 2 packages from Kim (full of AMAZING pumpkin bread) and the Thorsens (with yummy goodies). The lame part of Friday was that it definitely started lightly snowing on F riday night…yeah, like on NOVEMBER 5th. PROBLEM!!!!

I thought that was bad enough but then it was like LEGIT snowing on Saturday morning when we left…and as we drove down to Cleveland Heights, the snow only got worse…like it was stuck to the ground. Don’t worry, videos will DEFINITELY be attached to this email.

Saturday, we took the Gervasi girls and went to see Kia. We just played. I bought a ball and wrote a handful of “get to know you” questions on it and we did that. Then, we talked to Kia about meeting with us. Basically she said she’s really busy right now so the only time she knows that would for sure work is weekends. Well, with that one, I’ll take what I can get. I love her guts and it was SOOOOOO refreshing to have the normal Kia for a little while as we were playing! I haven’t seen her in over a month.

Then, we went to Kirtland for the baptism of Ming & Jasmine…the Willowick sisters have been teaching them for over 6 months and they finally committed!!! It was so neat. Then, we drove out to Pepper Pike to drop off our progress record to the bishop. We have decided that we need to build the members trust in us and support/serve the bishop in every way possible. That will help to move the work forward in this area. It came to me that we need to have a ward fast for the work here in Lyndhurst. It’s been over a year & a half since there was baptism in the Mayfield ward and it is PAST time for that to change!!

The miracle of Saturday was DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME. Holy Cuyahoga county, I didn’t realize how much of a difference that extra hour of sleep makes! IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I felt like a whole new person Sunday morning, seriously. The only bad thing about the time change is that we are not allowed to tract after it gets dark, and now it gets dark at like 6:00. So we have to have 3 hours of either solid appointments (which we lack these days…we’re working on it!) or stop bys. Booo!

Yesterday was pretty good! I was bummed because Daryl told us that he and Lynette would be at church and then…they didn’t show. I have learned on my mission that Satan is very real and that as soon as people start expressing any interest in the gospel he makes their lives crazy to try to keep them from hearing the truth. SO FRUSTRATING! But it has only solidified my testimony that this Church is truly Jesus Christ’s church restored on the earth once again and that the Book of Mormon is that second witness that Jesus Christ truly is God’s Son and our Savior. It IS God’s word. I know it with every ounce of my soul. I love that book more than anything else in my life. Okay…well I love my family and friends a whole lot too!

Yesterday, we worked our butts off after church! We got a lot done. We had an incredible member meal with the Nelsons. I didn’t know them too well. Brother Nelson is a resident so he only comes to church like once a month just because of his work schedule. But he kept talking to his girls like “Do you know what these sister missionaries do? It’s our job to help them and find people for them to teach.” And then by the time we left he was like “I want our home to be a place where missionary opportunities happen. We’re going to make a list- I’ve already got one going in my head- of people to pray about sharing the gospel with.”

SO COOL! I want to be that kind of member when I get home…he’s completely still a missionary. It’s awesome! Can I just tell you about their fam? Sister Nelson is definitely 6’2 ½” and Brother Nelson….he’s 6’10”. They’re ginormous! Their kids are all tall for their ages too. Go figure right? It was nuts…but they were AWESOME!

Then, we stopped by Joyce at her house for the first time yesterday and got to see the “woman cave” where she hangs out a lot and we talked to her forever. She shared some miracles that have happened in their family and it just made me realize that her family is SO close! We are going to start teaching them really soon and I know that they will be baptized and they will be a solid family in the church. Her blog is jellenshouseoffabric.blogspot.com (I’m pretty sure). So you should go check it out. I LOVE HER TO PIECES.

Ummm…oh well this morning we went grocery shopping & then went to Target. I got 3 sweaters, a long sleeved shirt & some boots because after our little snow adventure this weekend, I realized that winter is coming no matter how hard I pray for it to stay away! I found a hand-me-down winter coat in my closet that I think I’ll use for now plus tomorrow morning, we’re going to go shopping at the Smith home (one of the historic houses that the sisters live in on site in Kirtland) because I hear that some sisters have left their old stuff there.

Other than that, not too much has been going on. I’m going to go home and take a nap I think. After having that beautiful extra hour of sleep Saturday night, I realized I should get that more often.

I love you forever!

Sister Alicia Webb
