some poor fainting struggling seaman, you may rescue, you may save

Okay okay okay first things first:

One of my bestest bestest best friends in the world is going to be a sister missionaryyyy like me! Sonhee got her mission call to the KOREA SEOUL mission!!!! YAYAYAY! She reports to the MTC October 19th so we won’t see each other for like 3 years. But oh well! I’m just so happy! She’s going to be the most amazing missionary ever! Seriously. I can’t physically email her back so I had to freak out on here for a moment. Sister Cho, I love you!!!!!!!!!! :)

SISTERSSSSSS
Now on to my mission life.

Last week was my BIRTHDAY! It was a fantastic and magical sort of day! I woke up to a sign from the birthday fairy and rolls of toilet paper with alien heads on it….so I guess it would be appropriate to say my birthday was out of this world. Mom, I saved my package for my actually birthday so I’d have something to open. It was nice! (The shirts are actually too big so we got permission to leave our zone and go to Target with Sister Mars. I was able to exchange a couple of them and she is going to try and exchange the other 3 at a different Target.)

We had district meeting, which was really good and then lunch. Elder Sogla & Elder Brown made me a cake! So the district sang and we ate and it was wonderful. Then we had interviews with President Sorensen. He gave me probably the highest compliment that I will ever receive from him: “Sister Webb, you are a RESCUER. You’re a lifeguard sitting on the stand, looking for someone to rescue. You’re not distracted by the things happening on the shore. Your personality & everything about you is ready to rescue.” WOW. That was all I had to say.

The Kent sisters drove to Alliance for DM and on the way home, their car started acting funky. First the power steering went out, then the AC went out, then the brakes started acting funny (really close to our house thankfully) and then when we pulled in the driveway, it just stopped and the gauges on the speedometer and the other thing were going CRAZY! That was like 5 days ago and they still don’t have a car.

Me and Sister Mars with the feast

So, Sister Mars made me an amazing dinner of CHICKEN ROLL UPS(!!!) for my special day and delicious blueberry cheesecake. She is so great!! We saw Brother Fortson and Marie on that day and they gave me such a sweet card! Man, I love that family! All of you are going to meet them when we come back to Ohio one day :) And we also saw the Barnes family! They made me a cake too. Yes, that was 3 cakes in 1 day. SICK. I was ready to explode by the end of the night. But it was a most excellent way to spend my 22nd birthday.

On Thursday, we went to the Johnson Home and went on splits with the Kent sisters. They came to sites (even though they are full pros sisters) because 1) they had no car, 2) they left their bike locks in the trunk of their car so they have no bikes to ride, and 3) it was supposed to be 100 degrees that day. Well, it was CRAZY busy!!! I was with Sister Pusey and we had a lot of fun. She picked up on the stuff really quickly. We had a group of 300 youth from Virginia come so we were stationed outside and then in the tarring & feathering room for a time. We were on our feet for essentially 5 or 6 hours straight. It’s a tiring job we have! Plus, we heard that with the heat index, it was 110-115 degrees that day and the humidity is KILLER. It's so thick and sticky right now. (So Gram and Nat and Haley should be glad that they have a refuge to go to...the Mars don't have AC and we DID NOT sleep well that night. It was HORRIBLE!!!! But I'm not complaining.) (Alicia's Grandma, aunt and cousins lost their AC in Texas over the weekend and took refuge at her Mom's house.)

On Friday, we had a couple crazy experiences. We met the Reddicks, a less active couple who are very talkative and open with EVERYTHING about their personal lives. It’s funny how people open up to you when they see that you represent Christ. Later we taught Sister Manning & Grams. We extended a baptismal date to them but they said it was too soon. They are going to be praying about a date, and reading more from the Book of Mormon.

After that appointment, we had planned to stop by Terry McCall, a less active lady who had showed up at church the last Sunday and who lives way out in the boonies on the same road that Sister Manning lives on. We stopped by and this is how the conversation went:

*door opens*

Sister Webb: Hi, are you Terry?

Lady: No….

SW: Oh, does Terry live here?

L: No…

SW: …do the McCalls live here?

L: Nope.

SW: Huh…well, okay, we’re missionaries…..

L: Yeah, I know, I’m a Mormon.

SW: Wait, you are? What’s your name?!

L: Tijuana Czerwony. (Crazy…but it’s pronounced Tiana Sherwony)

So, we had heard about Tijuana about a month ago from her aunt, Sister Allen, who is in the ward. She said that Tijuana had mentioned wanting to come back to church. We called her but she never answered so we kind of forgot about her….until Heavenly Father placed her DIRECTLY in our path!! Holy moly. We were kind of in awe the entire ride home that this whole experience had happened. It was bizarre but really great. We are going back to meet with her on Thursday so that should be good. :)

On Saturday, we took a couple on tour at the Johnson Home and afterwards, I found out that she is in the Teacher Education department at BYU and she is going to be teaching a class that I will be taking in January! Haha So my potential professor came on tour. She was so sweet and asked me to come and say hi in January. I’m planning on it J Also, we had a gathering to celebrate Pioneer Day that night at the Morley farm. We had a delicious meal and played with water balloons. Elder Guenther threw one that I tried to catch in front of my face…..and it completed exploded and soaked me. But don’t worry, I may or may not have got him back…

Totally got revenge on Elder Guenther. Hahaha!
On Sunday, we had 6 less active people at work and the formerly anti-Mormon wife of a recent convert!!! She apparently works at Giant Eagle pharmacy and recognized me because I am ALWAYS there picking up my prescription or Allegra-D behind the counter! Haha …we are going to get her heart softened so her family can be eternal! Well, hopefully.
It’s getting to the time that I have to go. BUT, I love you all. I know that this is the best thing that I could be doing with my life. THIS IS THE RESCUE. Our purpose as disciples of Christ, is to help our Heavenly Father fulfill his purpose---to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

Love love love love loveeeee you,

Sister Webb
